The impact from a crash of a railway vehicle can be costly and time consuming. Incidents happens every day and sometimes vehicles has to be taken out of from service. To protect the vehicles structural design from heavy impacts, a crash beam with 2 side buffers are indispensable. The European standard is expressed as EN 15227 about the crashworthiness requirements for railway vehicle bodies. It was first resolved in 2008 and has been binding since 2012 for all new vehicles in the European Union. VDV152 is a complement to the crashworthiness requirements and is representing the reversible behavior of the crash element.
