Buffers

Energy absorbing is our business

Dellner offers a wide range of buffers for the absorption of energy at railway rolling stock. Our products are high precision, reliable and hard-wearing for an extended product lifetime.

The EN 15227 is a European standard for railway applications about the Crashworthiness requirements for railway vehicle bodies. It was first resolved in 2008 and it is binding since 2012 for all new vehicles in the European Union. The required energy absorption modules has a major impacts on the head shape design of locomotives and passenger rolling stock.

To meet the requirements of the DIN EN15227 for crashworthiness, Dellner Dampers has developed various products to absorb the energy. Solutions with force levels from 100kN to 3000kN with strokes up to 1000mm belongs to our portfolio.

To fulfill requirements for a crash scenario according to VDV152, buffers with a reversible stroke should be used. In case a tram with a speed of 5km/h collides with an unbraked identical tram, no damages to the trams are allowed.

Dellner solutions are of a proven concept in many railway vehicles around the world. References are trams in Geneva, Innsbruck, Brussels, Nottingham, Melbourne and Toronto.
