Long span cable-stayed or suspension bridges are particularly sensitive to vibration caused by traffic load, weather and seismic events. Equipping stay cables and bridge girders with our hydraulic dampers are the most effective way to suppress and stabilize cable vibration. Our dampers are fitted on over 70 cable-stayed and suspension bridges including the world’s longest suspension bridge, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Turkey, completed in 2022.

Seismic devices like Shock Transmission Units (STU) and Fluid Viscous Dampers (FVD) are essential for protecting bridges and structures during earthquakes. STUs transfer dynamic loads while allowing slow movements like thermal expansion. FVDs dissipate seismic energy, reducing stress on critical components. Together, these systems enhance structural resilience and safety in seismic regions. Our StrucPro series are available from 200kN to 3000kN and engineered to withstand the forces of an earthquake with minimal impact to the structure. For portside equipment, we supply customized dampers and buffer solutions to container spreaders, ship-to-shore cranes, rail mounted gantries and process cranes. When fitted to container spreaders, our dampers and buffers protect the hydraulic system from hard impacts and reduce the induced noise/vibration during operation. Our HYBUFF-series buffers designed to avoid damage to the crane structure and thereby protect the crane operator, in the event of an involuntary impact. The same design is used for stackers and reach stackers.

Heavy equipment for mining and tunneling is often equipped with our dampers for stabilizing unwanted movements or vibrations. Our HYBUFF buffers are used for impact protection on rail borne vehicles and moving equipment, while dampers protect and stabilize against vibrations and sudden load distribution variations.

Buffers in elevators are essential safety components located at the bottom of the elevator shaft. They are designed to absorb the impact and stop the elevator car or counterweight if it overshoots its normal travel limits.

Crash absorbers from Dellner are the most common and trusted buffers in train-, tram-, LHV- and metro industries for safety and protection. Our gas-hydraulic buffers (Hybuff) are installed at the end of the railway track. The units will absorb the kinetic energy from the rolling stock that fails to stop in time, preventing it from derailing, protecting people and infrastructure from heavy impact and damages.
